Tamil Nadu Coastal Regulatory Management Authority approves pipeline project for natural gas supply to homes
- The Tamil Nadu government has approved a policy to provide natural gas through pipelines to homes to protect the environment, reduce import costs and increase the use of natural gas.
- Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu government has approved the implementation of this in 9 districts of Tamil Nadu. In this, Torrent Gas will implement the project to provide natural gas to homes in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Nagar districts.
- Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Coastal Regulatory Management Authority has approved the construction of pipelines in Chennai and its suburbs at Vettuvankeny, Neelankarai, Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar, Chepauk, Paris Corner, Royapuram, Thandayarpet, Thiruvottriyur, Ennore and Nettukuppam.
- The total length of the pipeline is to be constructed at 466 km. Out of this, 260 km falls in the Coastal Zone Regulatory Authority areas. Accordingly, the Tamil Nadu Coastal Regulatory Management Authority has granted permission to Torrent Gas to implement this project at a cost of Rs 48 crore.
