Eighth Missile and Ammunition Ship, LSAM11 (Yard 79) handed over to Indian Navy
- The handover ceremony of the eighth Missile and Ammunition Ship, LSAM 11 (Yard 79) was held at Naval Shipyard, Mumbai on 07 March 2025.
- The ceremony was graced by Commander Rajesh Barghoti as the Chief Guest. With this, MSME Shipyard completed the delivery of eight boats to the Indian Navy on contractual basis.
- The contract for the construction and delivery of eight Missile and Ammunition Ships was signed with MSME Shipyard, Sequen Engineering Projects Private Limited, Visakhapatnam, on 19 February 2021.
- These boats have been designed indigenously by the shipyard in collaboration with the Indian Naval Design Institute and have been successfully tested at the Naval Science and Technology Laboratory, Visakhapatnam to ensure their seaworthiness.
- The boats have been built as per the naval norms related to the Indian Ship Registry. The Missile and Ammunition Ships are proud flag bearers of the Make in India and Self Reliant India initiatives of the Central Government. They showcase the commitment of the Indian Navy to promote MSMEs.
- Seven of these boats have already been commissioned. They are providing a boost to the operations of the Indian Navy by facilitating the movement, loading and unloading of goods/ammunition to Indian Naval Bases at jetties and outer ports.
