- Madras High Court Judge Anand Venkatesh, who heard a case related to a youth from Ambattur watching pornographic films on his cell phone, ordered the cancellation of the case against the youth saying that "downloading and viewing pornographic films is not a crime under the law".
- He also said that 2K kids are addicted to porn just like 90s kids are addicted to alcohol and smoking.
- An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court against this order. The Supreme Court Chief Justice Chandrachud and Justice Parthiwala bench heard the case and gave the verdict. The judgment said, “Viewing and storing child pornography is an offence.
- At the same time we understand the youth's attitude towards crime in this case. So we are mentioning some guidelines and recommendations in this judgment to prevent such things. We have reported on the impact of child pornography and child abuse. So we recommend Parliament to amend Section 19 and 21 of the POCSO Act.
- "Child sexual abuse and exploitation" rather than child pornography. Therefore, we have suggested that before bringing the amendment in the Parliament, we can urgently replace the "boy pornography" with an Ordinance on Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation. We have requested all courts not to mention child obscenity in any orders."
