Total GST revenue collection in May 2024 is Rs 1.73 lakh crore

  • The total Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue for May 2024 was Rs 1.73 lakh crore. This represents a growth of 10% per annum. This was driven by a strong increase in domestic transactions (up 15.3%) and a decrease in imports (down 4.3%). 
  • After accounting for refunds, the net GST revenue for May 2024 is Rs. 1.44 lakh crore, representing a growth of 6.9% over the same period last year
  • Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST): Rs 32,409 crore;
  • State Goods and Services Tax (SGST): Rs 40,265 crore;
  • Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST): Rs 87,781 crore (including Rs 39,879 crore levied on imported goods)
  • Cess: Rs 12,284 crore including Rs 1,076 crore collected on imported goods.
  • The total GST collection for the financial year 2024-25 till May 2024 was Rs 3.83 lakh crore. This represents a growth of 11.3% year-on-year, driven by a strong increase in domestic transactions (up to 14.2%) and a modest increase in imports (up to 1.4%). 
  • After refunds, the net GST revenue for the financial year 2024-25 till May 2024 is Rs 3.36 lakh crore, reflecting a growth of 11.6% compared to the same period last year.

  • Major General Harsh Chipper took over as Commandant of Defense Management College, Secunderabad on May 31, 2024 from Rear Admiral Sanjay Dutt. An alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Major General Harsh Chipper was commissioned into the Army Service Corps in December 1988.
  • Major General Harsh Chipper holds a PhD in Public Policy with two Master of Science (M.Phil) degrees in Business Management and Public Administration. He has also done Technical Officers Course, High Security Management Course and Advanced Professional Program in Public Administration.
  • Major General Chipper's military experience covers various key assignments including Para ASC Wing, ASC Force and ASC Training Center in Eastern, Northern and Western Sectors. 
  • He has been Brigadier General Staff (Information System) in the Eastern Sector and Major General (Operational Logistics) in the Northern Sector. 
  • He has served as an instructor at the Army Service Corps Center and College and as the Head of the Department of Personnel and Financial Management at the Defense Management College. Software applications developed and implemented by him are in use in numerous sectors.
