The number of Municipal Corporations in Tamil Nadu has increased to 25 - Chief Minister M.K.Stalin

• District capitals and major cities have been constituted by population based Municipal Corporations. The ranking of these Corporations is based on Population, Corporation Revenue, Corporation Zones and Wards.
• In this case, the number of Municipal Corporations in Tamil Nadu increases to 25. Pudukottai, Tiruvannamalai, Namakkal and Karaikudi municipalities have been upgraded to Municipal Corporations by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin.

Central government approves electric vehicle policy to promote India as a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles

• The Center has approved a plan to promote India as a manufacturing hub for electric vehicles through which electric vehicles with the latest technology can be manufactured domestically. The policy is designed to attract investments in the e-vehicle manufacturing sector by leading global electric vehicle manufacturers.
• It will provide Indian consumers with access to the latest technology, promote the Make in India initiative, strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem by encouraging healthy competition among electric vehicle companies, which will lead to higher volume production, lower production costs, lower crude oil imports, reduce trade deficit, and reduce air pollution, especially in cities. , and have a positive impact on health and the environment.
• There is no limit on the maximum investment of Rs 4150 crore
• Timeline for setting up manufacturing plants in India, starting commercial production of electric vehicles and achieving 50% domestic value addition within a maximum of 5 years.
• A localization level of 25% in 3rd year and 50% in 5th year should be achieved
• 15% customs duty applicable for a period of 5 years, admissible for vehicles with CIF value of $35,000 or more
• The total number of electric vehicles allowed for import will be determined by a maximum of ₹6,484 crore (equivalent to the incentive under the Product Linked Incentive Scheme) total duty foregone or investment made, whichever is less.
• Import of more than 8,000 electric vehicles per year will not be allowed under this scheme. Unused annual import limits are allowed to be carried over.
• The investment commitment made by the company should be backed by a bank guarantee in lieu of foregone customs duty.
• A bank guarantee will be invoked if the minimum investment criteria defined under VAT and scheme guidelines are not met.

MoU with Bharat Financial Inclusion Corporation, Ministry of Rural Development, Central Government

• Deendayal Antiyothaya Yojana – The Union Ministry of Rural Development has signed a Non-Financial MoU with Bharat Financial Inclusion Corporation to help integrate the livelihood activities of the National Rural Livelihoods Movement with Livestock and Fisheries Development.
• The MoU was signed by Mr. Saranjit Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development and Mr. J. Sreedharan, Executive Vice President, in New Delhi.
• As part of this MoU, a centralized project monitoring unit will be set up in the initial phase to support the Deendayal Antiyothaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Movement at the national level. State Project Monitoring Unit will be created in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Bihar. 
• Deendayal Anthyothaya Yojana – Strengthening extension workers created under the National Rural Livelihoods Movement and providing basic health care to animals.
• Deendayal Antiyothaya Yojana – Establishment of livestock collection facilities for SHG families in National Rural Livelihood Movement, development of information technology-based ecosystem and provision of livestock care and facilities are other aspects of the scheme.
