Grammy Award for Shakti band from India
- The Grammy Award is considered the most important award in the music industry. Accordingly, this year's 66th Grammy Music Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles, USA. Indian band Shakti won the Grammy Award for Best Global Music Album.
- The award was given for the album The Moment. The band features Ustad Zakir Hussain, Selvaganesh, Ganesh Rajagopalan and Shankar Mahadevan.
- Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soran was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate last week in a money laundering case related to the mining scam case. Hemant Soran resigned as Chief Minister before the arrest. After that, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha senior leader and minister Sambhai Soren took over as Chief Minister.
- Hemant Soran filed a bail petition challenging his arrest. The Supreme Court dismissed the petition. Following that, Chief Minister Sambhai Soren moved a trust vote resolution to prove the ruling coalition's majority in the Assembly today. While the bail plea was rejected, the court allowed Hemant Soran to participate in the trust vote.
- Subsequently, the police brought the legislator Hemant Soran, who is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate, to the Assembly. Jharkhand Chief Minister Sambhai Soran and other legislators also came to the Jharkhand state assembly.
- A vote of confidence was held today, with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha's Sambhai Soran expected to continue as the 12th Chief Minister of Jharkhand if the majority is proved.
- The 81-member state assembly of Jharkhand needed the support of 41 legislators to prove majority. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had the support of 29 MLAs and the coalition Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal had 17 and one MLAs each in a total of 47 MLAs. The BJP and its allies had the support of 32 members.
- Finally, in the trust vote, Chief Minister Sambhai Soran's government was declared to have secured the votes of 47 members. Sambhai Soran is going to prove his majority and continue as the 12th Chief Minister of Jharkhand. 29 legislators voted against him.
