• 2023க்கான நார்மன் போர்லாக் விருது / NORMAL BORLAUG AWARD 2023: நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற நார்மன் போர்லாக் (Norman Borlaug) பெயரில் வருடாவருடம் விவசாயத்தில் கண்டுபிடிப்புகளை நிகழ்த்துவோருக்கு விருது வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. 
• உலகில் பெருமளவில் உணவு உற்பத்தியை அதிகப்படுத்தியதற்காக 1970-ல் நார்மன் போர்லக்கிற்கு அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது.
• 2023 -க்கான நார்மன் போர்லாக் (Norman Borlaug) விருதுக்கு இந்திய வேளாண் விஞ்ஞானியான சுவாதி நாயக் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். சுவாதி நாயக் இந்த விருதை பெறும் மூன்றாவது இந்திய வேளாண் விஞ்ஞானி என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. 
• பன்னாட்டு நெல் ஆராய்ச்சி நிறுவனம் தெற்காசிய பிராந்திய மையத்தில் (International Rice Research Institute South Asia Regional Centre) விஞ்ஞானியாக உள்ள சுவாதி நாயக், தன்னுடைய குழுவினருடன் சேர்ந்து, ஒடிசாவில் வறட்சியை தாங்கும் 'சாகாபாகி' (Shahabhagi) எனும் நெல் ரகத்தை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியதற்காக இந்த விருதுக்கு தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளார். 
• மழையையே நம்பி இருக்கும் வானம் பார்த்த பூமிப் பகுதிகளில் இந்த ரகம் பெரும் மாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியிருக்கிறது. ஒடிசா மக்களால் 'பிஹானா திதி' (விதைப் பெண்மணி) என அன்போடு அழைக்கப்படுகிறார், சுவாதி நாயக்.

• NORMAL BORLAUG AWARD 2023: In the name of Nobel laureate Norman Borlaug, the award is given annually to those who make innovations in agriculture. Norman Borlak was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 for his efforts to increase food production on a large scale in the world.
• Indian agronomist Swathi Naik has been selected for the Norman Borlaug Award for 2023. Swathi Naik is the third Indian agronomist to receive this award.
• Swathi Naik, a scientist at the International Rice Research Institute South Asia Regional Center, along with his team, has been selected for this award for introducing the drought-tolerant rice variety 'Shahabhagi' in Odisha. This variety has made a big difference in the rain-fed parts of the earth. Swathi Naik is fondly called 'Bihana Didi' (Seed Lady) by the people of Odisha.
