• சர்வதேச சகிப்புத்தன்மைக்கான தினம் 2023 / INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் கல்வி, அறிவியல் மற்றும் கலாச்சார அமைப்பு (யுனெஸ்கோ) சகிப்புத்தன்மை குறித்த கொள்கைகளின் பிரகடனத்தை வகுத்த அதே நாளில் 1995 ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 16 ஆம் தேதியை சகிப்புத்தன்மைக்கான சர்வதேச தினமாக ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபை அறிவித்தது.

• சர்வதேச சகிப்புத்தன்மைக்கான தினம் 2023 / INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: சகிப்புத்தன்மை ஒரு உலகளாவிய மனித உரிமை மற்றும் சர்வதேச சகிப்புத்தன்மை தினம் திறந்த மனது மற்றும் கேட்பதை ஊக்குவிக்கிறது என்ற செய்தியைத் தொடர்புகொள்வதே இதன் நோக்கம்.

• சர்வதேச சகிப்புத்தன்மைக்கான தினம் 2023 / INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: அதே ஆண்டில், யுனெஸ்கோ, சகிப்புத்தன்மை மற்றும் அகிம்சையை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்காகவும், ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையின் சகிப்புத்தன்மை ஆண்டாகவும், மகாத்மா காந்தியின் 125 வது பிறந்தநாளைக் குறிக்கவும் ஒரு பரிசை உருவாக்கியது. 
• இந்த ஆண்டு கொண்டாட்டங்களுக்கு நிதியுதவி செய்த மதன்ஜீத் சிங்கின் நினைவாக இந்த பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது. 2000 ஆம் ஆண்டில், சிங் ஐ.நாவின் நல்லெண்ண தூதராகவும் ஆனார் மற்றும் சமூகங்களுக்கு இடையே மத நல்லிணக்கத்தை கொண்டு வருவதற்கு மகத்தான பங்களிப்பை வழங்கினார்.

History

• INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: The UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 51/95 proclaiming November 16 as International Day for Tolerance back in 1996. The action followed the adoption of a Declaration of Principles on Tolerance by UNESCO's Member States on the same day in 1995.

Significance

• INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: The aim is to communicate the message that tolerance is a universal human right and the International Day of Tolerance encourages open-mindedness and listening.
• The 1995 Declaration of Principles on Tolerance puts across the idea that “tolerance" is nothing but “acceptance, respect and appreciation" of diverse cultures and people. It urges to respect and appreciate the rich variety of the world's cultures, forms of expression and ways of being human.
• The day’s significance lies in the fact that tolerance is not just a moral obligation but an essential human need. Tolerance recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others as people are naturally diverse. Only tolerance can ensure the survival of diverse communities in every region of the globe.

Unesco-Madanjeet Singh Prize

• INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE 2023: In the same year, Unesco created a prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence and to mark the United Nations Year for Tolerance and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi. 
• The prize was named after Madanjeet Singh who sponsored the celebrations in the year. In 2000, Singh also became the UN’s goodwill ambassador and contributed immensely to bringing communal harmony among communities.
• The prize is titled Unesco-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence and rewards significant activities in the scientific, artistic, cultural or communication fields aimed at the promotion of a spirit of tolerance and non-violence. It is awarded every two years on November 16.
• Last time, the Unesco-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence was awarded in 2020 to the nongovernmental Centre Résolution Conflits (Centre for Resolution of Conflicts - CRC) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
