• NATIONAL SMALL INDUSTRY DAY 2023: Recognising the value bestowed upon the Indian market by various small-scale businesses and industries, the 30th of August is celebrated as small scale industry day in India. This day is celebrated to encourage small businesses to grow further, while creating more job opportunities for the youth of the nation. 
• The small industry is also a vehicle for promoting indigenous handicrafts. Artisans, who are a part of the industry, keep the nation’s handicraft heritage alive, and in turn, earn their livelihood. 

History

• NATIONAL SMALL INDUSTRY DAY 2023: In order to provide proper help and support to various small-scale industries in India, a comprehensive policy package for the SSI (small scale industry) was launched on the 30th of August, 2000. 
• This policy targeted problems like infrastructure, technology, and payment hassles with utmost urgency and effectiveness. Following the policy launch, it was also unanimously agreed that this day would be named after the SSI by the officials. Since the inception of the comprehensive policy, the 30th of August was named the small industry day.
• The following year, a convention for the small scale industries for various SSI entrepreneurs was held in New Delhi, alongside a presentation of the National Awards Function by the Ministry of the small scale industries.
