Agreement to improve Japan India relations - PM Modi, PM Kishida announcement
  • The G7 summit will be held in the western city of Hiroshima in May. In this case, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida arrived in India yesterday on an official visit. He was received by Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar at the Delhi airport.
  • Later, Japanese Prime Minister Kishita laid a wreath at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial in Rajghat, Delhi. After this, he also signed the attendance register for the tour of India.
  • Following this, Prime Minister Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida held a live consultation at a high-level meeting of the two countries at the Hyderabad residence in Delhi. Union External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, Indian Defense Adviser Ajit Doval and others participated in this meeting.
  • After this meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida jointly announced the signing of an agreement to improve India-Japan relations globally. They also said that the extension of this agreement is crucial for the development of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
  • At that time, both discussed the mutual cooperation and promotion of trade between the two countries. They also deliberated on the security of the Indo-Pacific region in particular.
  • In this regard, in a statement released by Prime Minister Modi's office, India has assumed the leadership of the G20 organization. Meanwhile, Japan is chairing the G7 summit. This is a great opportunity for both the countries to work together in various fields for the benefit of the world.
  • The two countries will review progress in bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of defence, digital technology, trade and investment and health. The two countries also discussed the importance of reliable supply chains for semiconductors and other critical technologies.
  • In a press release, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said, "Japan has always valued its friendship with India. Economic cooperation between India and Japan will continue and grow further in the future.
  • Japan will continue to support India's development. At the same time, Japan's economic prospects will be critical. Japan will invest Rs 3,20,000 crore in India in the next 5 years.
