- இந்தியாவில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் நவம்பர் 7 ஆம் தேதி தேசிய புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு தினமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்த நாள் மிக முக்கியமானது.
- ஏனெனில் இது புற்றுநோயின் தீவிர அபாயத்தைப் பற்றி மக்களுக்கு அறிவுறுத்துகிறது. உலக சுகாதார அமைப்பின் கூற்றுப்படி, மக்கள் மத்தியில் மரணத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் 2வது கொடிய நோயாக புற்றுநோய் உள்ளது.
- புற்றுநோயால் இறக்கும் மக்களின் நிலை இந்தியாவுக்கு பெரும் அச்சுறுத்தலாக உள்ளது. 2020 ஆம் ஆண்டில், இந்தியாவில் 8.5 லட்சம் பேர் புற்றுநோயால் இறந்துள்ளனர்.
- இந்த காரணத்திற்காக, இந்த வகை புற்றுநோயைப் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த தேசிய புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு தினம் கொண்டாடப்பட்டு வருகிறது.
- மத்திய சுகாதாரத்துறை அமைச்சர் ஹர்ஷ் வர்தன் முதன்முதலில் தேசிய புற்றுநோய் விழிப்புணர்வு தினத்தை செப்டம்பர் 2014 ஆம் ஆண்டு அறிவித்தார்.

- According to the World Health Organization, cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death among the population.
- The number of people dying from cancer is a major threat to India. In 2020, 8.5 lakh people died of cancer in India. For this reason, National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated to raise awareness about this type of cancer.
- Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan first declared National Cancer Awareness Day in September 2014. He started a state-wide drive to control cancer. He also encouraged people to get free check-ups at municipal clinics.
- A booklet on early signs of cancer and how to avoid it was also distributed then. A significant action in the country against this deadly disease began in 1975 with the launch of the National Cancer Control Programme.
- It was launched to facilitate cancer treatment in the country. After 10 years, in 1984-85, the program's approach was revised to focus on early detection and prevention of cancer.
- The purpose of celebrating National Cancer Awareness Day at the national level is to raise awareness among people about cancer and to create awareness among everyone including the government to take action.
