- ஏறக்குறைய 30 சதவீத இந்தியப் பெண்கள் 21 வயதிற்குள் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்கிறார்கள், மேலும் கிராமப்புற பெண்களில் மூன்றில் ஒரு பகுதியினர் 18 முதல் 20 வயதிற்குள் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்கிறார்கள் என்று அரசாங்க தகவல்கள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன. திருமண வயது என்பது ஆண்களுக்கு 21 என்றும் பெண்களுக்கு 18 என்றும் நிர்ணயிக்கபட்டது.
- இந்த ஆண்டு மத்திய அரசு பெண்களின் திருமண வயதையும் 21 ஆண்டுகளாக மாற்ற சட்டசபையில் தீர்மானம் கொண்டுவந்து. இந்நிலையில் தி டைம்ஸ் ஆஃப் இந்தியா கருத்துப்படி, ஜார்கண்ட் மற்றும் மேற்கு வங்கம் 21 வயதிற்குள் திருமணமாகும் பெண்கள் பட்டியலில் முதலிடத்தில் உள்ளது.
- மறுபுறம், 2020 ஆண்டின் தரவுகளின்படி ஜம்மு காஷ்மீரில் 21 வயதுக்கு முன் பெண்கள் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்ட எண்ணிக்கை 10 சதவீதத்திற்கும் குறைவாக உள்ளது.
- டெல்லியில் இந்த எண்ணிக்கை சுமார் 17 சதவீதமாக இருக்கிறது . நகர்ப்புற இந்தியாவில் 18.6 சதவீத பெண்கள் 18 முதல் 20 வயதுக்குள் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டதாக அறிக்கை தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
சராசரி திருமண வயது
- திருமண வயது அதிகம் உள்ள மாநிலம் என்று பார்த்தால் ஜம்மு மற்றும் காஷ்மீர் முதலில் உள்ளது. அங்கு சராசரி திருமண வயது 26 ஆகும். இதைத் தொடர்ந்து பஞ்சாப், டெல்லி ஆகிய மாநிலங்கள் இடம் பிடித்தன.
- மிக குறைவானது என்று பார்க்கும்போது, மேற்கு வங்கம் மற்றும் ஜார்கண்ட் திருமணத்தின் சராசரி வயது 21 ஆகவும், ஒடிசா 22 ஆகவும் உள்ளது. நாட்டின் சராசரி வயது 22.7 ஆக இருந்தது.
இந்தியாவில் குழந்தை திருமணங்கள்
- குழந்தைத் திருமணங்களைப் பொறுத்தவரை, கேரளாவில் 2020 இல் ஒன்று கூட இல்லை. ஆனால் கர்நாடகாவில் குழந்தை திருமணங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை ஆபத்தான அளவை எட்டியுள்ளது.
- 2021-2022 இல் குறைந்தது 418 குழந்தை திருமணங்கள் நடந்துள்ளது. 2017-2018 உடன் ஒப்பிடும்போது 300 சதவீதம் அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
- கொரோனா வைரஸ் தொற்றுநோய் பரவலின் போது ஏற்பட்ட குடும்ப பொருளாதார நெருக்கடியால் குழந்தை திருமணங்கள் அதிகரித்துள்ளதாக சில நிபுணர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.
குழந்தை திருமணங்கள் தடுப்பு
- குழந்தைத் திருமணங்களைத் தடுக்கும் வகையில் 'குழந்தைத் திருமணத் தடைச் சட்டம் (பிசிஎம்ஏ), 2006' ஐ அரசாங்கம் இயற்றியுள்ளது. 1098 என்ற சைல்டுலைனும் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.
- இது நெருக்கடியில் உள்ள குழந்தைகளுக்கான 24X7 தொலைபேசி அவசர கால சேவையாகும், மேலும் காவல்துறை, CMPOக்கள், மாவட்ட குழந்தைகள் பாதுகாப்பு அலகுகள் போன்றவற்றின் ஒருங்கிணைப்பில் தேவையான உதவிகளை வழங்குகிறது. இருப்பினும் குழந்தை திருமணங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை குறையவில்லை.
கிராமப்புற இந்திய தரவு
- நகர்ப்புற நகரங்களுடன் ஒப்பிடும்போது, நாட்டின் கிராமப்புறங்களில் குழந்தைத் திருமணங்கள் அதிகம் நடைபெறுகின்றன. 18 வயதுக்குட்பட்ட பெண்களின் திருமணம் ஜார்க்கண்டில் அதிகபட்சமாக 5.8 சதவீதமாகவும், மேற்கு வங்காளத்தில் 4.7 சதவீதமாகவும் உள்ளது.
- பீகார், உத்தரபிரதேசம் மற்றும் ஒடிசாவில் 3 சதவீதத்துக்கும் அதிகமான பெண்கள் 18 வயதுக்கு முன்பே திருமணம் செய்துகொண்டுள்ளனர். குழந்தை மணமகளின் சராசரி வயது தெலுங்கானாவில் 15 வயதாகவும், ராஜஸ்தானில் 15.4 ஆகவும் இருந்தது.
- மறுபுறம், டெல்லி, மகாராஷ்டிரா, குஜராத், பஞ்சாப், உத்தரகாண்ட், ஹரியானா மற்றும் இமாச்சலப் பிரதேசம் ஆகிய மாநிலங்களில் 80 சதவீதத்திற்கும் அதிகமான பெண்கள் 21 வயதுக்கு மேற்பட்டவர்கள் திருமணம் செய்து கொள்கின்றனர்.
- நகர்ப்புறங்களில், 21 வயதுக்கு மேல் திருமணம் செய்துகொண்ட பெண்களின் விகிதம் அதிகமாக இருந்தது. சில மாநிலங்களில் குழந்தை திருமண சம்பவங்கள் இல்லை.
- நகர்ப்புறங்களில் குழந்தைத் திருமணங்களின் விகிதத்தில் மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் 4.4 சதவீதமும், உ.பி.யில் 3.6 சதவீதமும் உள்ளது.

- Some experts say child marriages are on the rise due to family economic strain during the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
- The Government has enacted the 'Prevention of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), 2006' to prevent child marriages. A childline called 1098 has also been introduced.
- It is a 24X7 telephone emergency service for children in crisis and provides necessary assistance in coordination with Police, CMPOs, District Child Protection Units etc. However, the number of child marriages has not decreased.
- Child marriages are more common in rural areas of the country as compared to urban cities. Marriage of girls below 18 years is highest in Jharkhand at 5.8 percent and West Bengal at 4.7 percent.
- More than 3 percent of girls in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha are married before the age of 18. The average age of child brides was 15 in Telangana and 15.4 in Rajasthan.
- On the other hand, in Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, more than 80 percent of women marry above the age of 21.
- In urban areas, the proportion of women married above the age of 21 was higher. Some states have no incidence of child marriage.
- The proportion of child marriages in urban areas is 4.4 per cent in West Bengal and 3.6 per cent in UP.
