• அறிவியலில் மொழிமாற்றம் மற்றும் மேம்பட்ட ஆராய்ச்சிக்கான திட்டம் (STARS) அறிவியலில் இந்தியாவை மையமாகக் கொண்ட ஆராய்ச்சியை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்காக, பெங்களூருவில் உள்ள இந்திய அறிவியல் கழகத்தால் (IISc) செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு நிர்வகிக்கப்படும்.
• அறிவியலில் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு மற்றும் மேம்பட்ட ஆராய்ச்சிக்கான திட்டம் (STARS) திட்டம் தேசிய அறிவியல் தினமான பிப்ரவரி 28, 2019 அன்று MHRD (தற்போது கல்வி அமைச்சகம் என மறுபெயரிடப்பட்டுள்ளது) மூலம் ரூ. 500 அறிவியல் திட்டங்களுக்கு 250 கோடி நிதியுதவி.

சமூகப் பொருத்தமான ஆராய்ச்சியை ஆதரிக்கும் முக்கிய நோக்கத்துடன், பின்வரும் ஆறு அடிப்படை உந்துதல் பகுதிகள் அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டுள்ளன

நோக்கங்கள்

• மொழிப்பெயர்ப்பான, அதாவது நாட்டின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு நேரடியான தாக்கங்களைக் கொண்ட அறிவியல் திட்டங்களுக்கு, போட்டி செயல்முறையின் மூலம் திறந்த மற்றும் வெளிப்படையான முறையில் நிதியளித்தல்
• அடிப்படை உந்துதல், ஏற்கனவே உள்ள ஒரு பிரச்சனையை எடுத்துக்கொள்வது மற்றும் தீர்வுக்கான ஆராய்ச்சியை மேற்கொள்வதில் பின்னோக்கி வேலை செய்வது
• சினெர்ஜி, டி-டூப்ளிகேஷன் மற்றும் அதிக விரிவான தன்மை மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சி நடவடிக்கைகளின் பொருத்தத்திற்கான ஆராய்ச்சியில் ஒரு இடை-ஒழுங்கு மற்றும் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு அணுகுமுறையை ஊக்குவித்தல்
• சுகாதாரம், விவசாயம், எரிசக்தி, சுற்றுச்சூழல், பாதுகாப்பு போன்ற முக்கிய துறைகளில் நாட்டின் தேவைகள் மற்றும் பிரச்சினைகளை நிவர்த்தி செய்யும் நோக்கில் நோக்குநிலை அறிவியல்.

• Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (STARS) for promoting translational, India-centric research in sciences, to be implemented and managed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
• Scheme for Translational and Advanced Research in Science (STARS) scheme was launched on the National Science Day, 28th February 2019 by MHRD (now renamed as Ministry of Education) worth Rs. 250 crore for funding 500 science projects. 

With the key objective of supporting socially relevant research, the following six basic thrust areas have been identified

• Physical Sciences
• Chemical Sciences
• Biological Sciences
• Nanosciences
• Data Sciences and Mathematics
• Earth Sciences

Objectives

• To fund science projects which are translational, i.e. which have direct implications for the progress of the country, through a competitive process in an open and transparent manner
• Basic thrust would be to take stock of an existing problem and work backwards towards conducting research for a solution
• Promoting an inter-disciplinary and translational approach in research for synergy, de-duplication and greater comprehensiveness and relevance of research activities
• Orient science towards addressing needs and issues of the country in key sectors like health, agriculture, energy, environment, security etc.
• Attain demonstrable international benchmarks in scientific research
