- உலக தொலைத்தொடர்பு தினம் 2023 / WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY 2023: உலக தகவல் சமூக நாள் (World Information Society Day) என்று ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 17ஆம் நாள் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
- இது குறித்து அறிவிப்பு 2005ஆம் ஆண்டு தூனிசில் நடந்த தகவல் சமூகத்திற்கான உலக மாநாட்டை அடுத்து ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் பொதுச் சபையின் தீர்மானம் மூலம் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
- இதற்கு முன்னதாக பன்னாட்டுத் தொலைத்தொடர்பு ஒன்றியம் 1865ஆம் ஆண்டு இந்த நாளன்று நிறுவப்பட்டதைக் கொண்டாடும் விதமாக உலகத் தொலைத்தகவல் தொடர்பு நாள் என அறியப்பட்டு வந்தது.
- 1973ஆம் ஆண்டு இதற்கான தீர்மானம் மாலேகா-டொர்ரெமோலினோசில் நடந்த முழு அதிகாரம் கொண்ட மாநாட்டில் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டிருந்தது.
- உலக தகவல் சமூக நாளின் முகனையான நோக்கம் உலகளவில் புதிய தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பங்களாலும் இணையத்தாலும் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள சமுதாய மாற்றங்களைக் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்ச்சியை வளர்ப்பதாகும். மேலும் இது எண்ணிம இடைவெளியைக் குறைப்பதற்கு உதவிடும் இலக்கையும் கொண்டுள்ளது.

- உலக தொலைத்தொடர்பு தினம் 2023 / WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY 2023: நவம்பர் 2006 துருக்கியில் உள்ள அன்டால்யாவில் நடந்த பன்னாட்டுத் தொலைதொடர்பு ஒன்றியத்தின் முழு அதிகாரம் கொண்ட மாநாடு இரு நிகழ்வுகளையும் ஒன்றுபடுத்தி உலகத் தொலைத்தொடர்பு மற்றும் தகவல் சமூக நாளாகக் கொண்டாட தீர்மானித்தது.
- இற்றைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட தீர்மானம் 68 உறுப்பினர் நாடுகளையும் துறை உறுப்பினர்களையும் ஆண்டுதோறும் தேசியளவில் தகுந்த நிகழ்ச்சிகளை வடிவமைத்துக் கொண்டாடுமாறு அழைப்பு விடுத்தது.

- உலக தொலைத்தொடர்பு தினம் 2023 / WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY 2023: ITU ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஒரு புதிய உலக தொலைத்தொடர்பு தின கருப்பொருளை அறிவிக்கிறது. தீம்கள் பொதுவாக தொழில்நுட்பத்தின் சமூக தாக்கம் மற்றும் அதன் எதிர்கால நோக்கத்தின் மீது கவனம் செலுத்துகின்றன.

- WORLD TELECOMMUNICATION DAY 2023: May 17 is celebrated every year as World Information Society Day. The announcement was made by a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly following the 2005 World Conference on Communities in Tunis.
- This day was formerly known as World Telecommunication Day, celebrating the founding of the International Telecommunication Union in 1865. The resolution was passed in 1973 at a full-fledged conference in Malega-Torremolinos.
- The main objective of World Information Society Day is to raise awareness of the social changes brought about by new information technologies and the Internet worldwide. It also aims to help reduce the numerical gap.
