BSF, enlistment of 9,550 soldiers in the army
- In our country there are seven divisions under the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), the BSF, the Border Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The BSF and troops are engaged in security operations along the India-Pakistan and India-Bangladesh border areas.
- They are also involved in cracking down on terrorists crossing the border and preventing drug trafficking. In the three-and-a-half months from January 1 to April 13 this year, 9,550 people joined the BSF force.
- Of these, 1,700 were women. Some more players will be joining the force after completing training in the coming days.
- A recent World Bank study on poverty in India found that the income of smallholder farmers grew by 10 percent per year compared to those with larger holdings. The income of those who own more land increases by only 2 percent. The study is titled Poverty in India has been declining over the past decade but not as high as previously thought.
- The World Bank study was written by economists Sudirtha Sinha Roy and Roy van der Waite. The purpose of these papers is to promote the exchange of ideas about development and to disseminate research findings quickly.
- The IMF report released last week said that the free food grain program in India would reduce extreme poverty to 0.86 percent by 2020. From 2011 to 2019, rural and urban poverty decreased by 14.7 and 7.9 percent, respectively. Poverty is much lower in rural India than in urban India.
- Rural poverty was 26.3 percent in 2011. It has declined to 11.6% in 2019. At the same time, urban poverty fell from 14.2 percent to 6.3 percent. In 2016, urban poverty rose to 2 percent. It coincides with the accidental dismissal.
- Rural poverty rose by 10 basis points in 2019. It coincidentally coincides with the recession. In a two-phase study conducted in 2013 and 2019, the annual income of smallholder farmers grew by 10 percent. The income of large-scale landowners increased by 2 percent.
