வரலாறு

• இந்தியாவுக்கும், சீனாவுக்கும் இடையே நடைபெற்ற மோதலுக்குப் பிறகு, 1962 ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 24ம் தேதி இந்தோ-திபெத்திய எல்லைக் காவல் படை (ITBP) அமைக்கப்பட்டது. 
• லடாக் பகுதியிலுள்ள கரகோரம் கணவாய் முதல் அருணாசலப் பிரதேசம் ஜசிப் லா என்ற இடம் வரையுள்ள 3488கி.மீ இந்திய-சீன எல்லையை இந்த படை பாதுகாக்கிறது. 
• பனிப்புயல், பனிப்பாறை சரிவுகள், நிலச்சரிவுகள் போன்ற இயற்கை சீற்றங்களுடன் -40 டிகிரி செல்சியஸ் வெப்ப நிலையிலும் 9000 முதல் 18000 அடி உயரத்தில் எல்லையை காக்கிறார்கள். 
• இமய மலைப்பகுதியில் தனி பிணைப்பு மற்றும் உயர் மலைப் பிரதேசத்தில் செயல்படும் வலிமையில் இந்தோ திபெத்திய எல்லை காவல் படை தனித்து நிற்கிறது.
• தொடக்க காலத்தில் இந்தோ - தீபெத் எல்லையில் கள்ளக் கடத்தல், ஊடுருவல், உளவாளிகளின் நடமாட்டம் இவற்றைத் தடுப்பது இந்த படையின் முதன்மை பணியாக இருந்து வந்தன.

History

• The Indo-Tibetan Border Guard (ITBP) was formed on October 24, 1962, following the conflict between India and China. The force guards the 3488 km Indo-Chinese border from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jazipla in Arunachal Pradesh.
• They guard the border at altitudes of 9000 to 18000 feet even at -40 degrees Celsius with natural disasters such as blizzards, avalanches, and landslides.
• The Indo-Tibetan Border Guard stands alone in its strength in the Himalayas and operating in the highlands. Initially, the main task of this force was to prevent smuggling, infiltration and movement of spies on the Indo-Tibetan border.
• But now, as a result of the expansion of the force, the force plays a very important role in protecting the people of the country during times of crisis such as natural disasters.
• In the early days, it consisted of 1471 soldiers serving in various divisions and operating in four battalions.
• Subsequently, the Central Government decided to expand the force by recruiting local youths living in the hilly areas to increase the role of this force in the border areas.
• The role of these forces is seen as significant in India's victory in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pakistani conflicts.
• In 1978, the federal government decided to restructure and restructure the force in order to defuse the continuing threat posed by the border areas. Accordingly, the force was strengthened to consist of 9 Regiments, 4 Special Forces and 2 Training Centers.
• Under the principle of One Country, One Border, One Force, the missions of the Assam Rifles operating in the states of Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh were brought under this. Currently, the force is operating with 56 regiments.

• In the Indo-Tibetan Border Security Force, women officers have been assigned to all combat responsibilities since 2016. However, these appointments were mostly from the constabulary ranks. In 2021, two women, Tammi and Teswal, were first appointed to the Assistant Commandant service.

India-China border issue

• China has illegally occupied about 38,000 square kilometers of land in the Ladakh Union Territory. Moreover, in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Pakistan has illegally ceded 5,180 sq km of land to China under the "China-Pakistan Border Agreement 1963" and claims about 90,000 sq km of the Indo-China eastern border in Arunachal Pradesh as its own. .
• Although India and China agree that patience is essential to resolve the border issue through peaceful negotiations, the two sides have been pursuing various agreements and procedures to maintain peace along the border, as there is no common Line of Control (LAC) on either side.
• Under the 1993 and 1996 agreements, both sides could station their forces to a minimum throughout the LAC. It was also agreed that the LAC should be treated with respect by both parties.
