1. Param Vir Chakra:

1. Saraswatisamman award- Mahabaleshawar Sail for the year 2017

  • Saraswati Samman is an annual award bestowed upon Indian citizen for his outstanding literary work 
  • This award is presented to Indian author, written in any 22 Indian language mentioned in Schedule VIII of Constitution and published during last 10 years. 
  • First recipient of Saraswati Samman Award- Harivansh Rai Bacchan 
  • Recently Mahabaleshawar Sail got Saraswatisamman award. He is a writer from Konkani language. He got award for his novel Hawthan 

2. Jnanpith Award- Shankha Ghosh (recent recipient)

  • Presented by Bharatiya Jnanpith to an author for their "outstanding contribution towards literature". 
  • The first recipient of the award was the Malayalam writer G. Sankara Kurup
  • Recent recipient of the award is Bengali poet and critic Shankha Ghosh who was awarded for the year 2016.

3. Vyas Samman award- Surendra varma (recent recipient)

  • The award was instituted by Birla foundation in the year 1991 
  • It is awarded annually for outstanding literary work in Hindi 
  • Recent recipient of Vyas Samman award is Surendra Varma for his novel Kaatna Shami Ka Vriksha 

National Sports awards:

  • It includes, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award: It is India’s highest sporting award given for the spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports by a sportsperson over a period of four years. 
  • Arjuna award: It is India’s second highest sporting award bestowed upon sportsperson for consistently outstanding performance for four years 
  • Dhyan Chand award: It is bestowed upon sportspersons for life time contribution to sports development 
  • Dronacharya Award: It bestowed upon coaches for producing medal winners at prestigious international sports events

National Bravery Awards


The National Bravery Awards are a set of awards given annually to about 25 Indian children for "meritorious acts of bravery against all odds."

The awards are given by the Government of India and the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

The award was instituted in 1952.

The National Bravery Awards consist of five categories, which are listed below.

1. The Bharat Award, since 1987
2. The Sanjay Chopra Award, since 1978
3. The Geeta Chopra Award, since 1978
4. The Bapu Gaidhani Award, since 1988
5. General National Bravery Awards, since 1957
The awards are given to children who were between the ages of six to eighteen when they committed their acts of bravery.

5. Krishi Karman awards:
Due to record performance of food grains for the year 2015-16, Union ministry of agriculture has selected three states for Krishi Karman awards. They are
  • Tamilnadu has been chosen in large category that is production more than 10 million tonnes
  • Himachal Pradesh selected in medium category that is production between 1 to 10 million tonnes and
  • Tripura in small category that is production less than 1 million tonnes
Apart from these states, Meghalaya get commendation prize for total food grain production
6. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu got ‘Transformative Chief Minister Award’ for his role in advancing the US-India partnership at the state level. The award was given by USIBC- United States India Business Council
